Internships at HCIR

Internships at the Hispanic Council on International Relations (HCIR) are an excellent way to gain knowledge in international affairs and promote Hispanic voices in foreign policy and implementation, while also gaining experience in the operation of non-governmental organizations.

HCIR hires several interns for each semester (fall, winter, spring and summer). The specific job requirements for each intern will vary depending on the interest and experience. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

1. Assist with projects and programs to ensure that the scheduling of lectures, forums and presentations are properly timed to avoid scheduling conflicts and ensure that the appropriate setting has been selected.

2. Assists with fundraising projects and programs ; Assists with the gathering of donor intelligence, processing fundraising data and information, tracking existing funding, planning events, developing mailing lists and providing information the US fundraising climate.

3. Assist the Executive Director with all phases of administrative, creative organizational and managerial duties, including generating and answering correspondence, preparation of reports and budgets, setting up, attending and coordinating meetings and assisting others as directed by the Executive Director.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English and Spanish,
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks, attentiveness to detail,
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines independently and in a team;
  • Strong computer skills-including knowledge of Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, with Internet research skills
  • Strong interest in foreign affairs and US Hispanic community

Interns will receive a small stipend

Deadlines for applications:

Spring internship: December 1 (January - April)
Summer internship April 1 (May – August)
Fall internship: August 1 (September – December)
